It's that time of year again where we start thinking about annual Photography Show at the NEC Birmingham 16-19th March.

The show now also incorporates The Video Show which demonstrates the huge change in the industry for professional photographers and it will be interesting to see how much more video content there is this year compared to 2018.

I'll be going along with my team as we have done every year since it was called Focus. Before it became The Photography Show the event was generally trade only and gradually we saw the doors opening to everyone. The Photography Show name was really to say that it was no longer a trade only show.

I'll also be interested to see the increase in Mirrorless cameras and for me as a photographer for over 30 years having gone from shooting film on large and medium format then DSLR, I've started to make the change to mirrorless and invested in the Sony brand.

The Sony brand definitely seems to be the leader and are almost leaving Canon and Nikon behind with the advancements they have made, but with the technology Sony have behind them in TV's, gaming and all other electronics they are easily able to incorporate different technologies in to their camera systems.

Certainly the Sony A7sii and A7iii models which I've invested in have been game changers, particularly the A7sii video capability. It is simply outstanding.

So I'll be going along to have a look at what's new out there although for the first time in 3-4 years I'm at a point where the kit my business has meets the needs for everything we do.

No doubt I'll be sold in to something completely new although I'm just out to do a bit of window shopping.

Some of the work my team and have shot recently on the Sony cameras for both video and photography at weddings can be seen on my two websites.
